When it's crazy hot outside, truck owners get ideas. If you're considering filling your truck bed with water so you can enjoy a mobile, DIY swimming pool, check out our decision tree before breaking out the hose.
As you can see in the image above, there are lots of reasons to fill your truck bed with water, but it's only advisable if you're in your right mind, have water to spare in your area, and your truck can handle the payload.
One cubic foot of water weighs 62 lbs. The average truck bed has a capacity of 30 to 80 cubic feet - that's anywhere between 1,860 and 4,960 pounds! Unless you've got a 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500HD that can manage a payload of 5,000 pounds (or another heavy duty truck with a similar rating), you may be out of luck on that mobile swimming pool...unless of course you want to spring for repairs.
