Our 5 Favorite Camaros From SEMA 2016

If you watched side-by-side videos of a kid on Christmas morning and a gearhead at SEMA, chances are their reactions would be remarkably similar - wide eyes, hopeful smiles, and probably an uncharacteristic giggle or two. But such is the norm for SEMA, which brings together the latest and most exciting trends the industry has to offer. For Camaro fans, we'd bet these 5 Camaros from this year's SEMA would elicit some strong responses:

1. 990 Fireball Camaro

990 Camaro

Yes, you read that correctly. 990 ponies.

Let that sink in for a second. Or don't, because by the time you're ready, this supercharged, tuned, and ported Camaro will be gone. That means you wouldn't get to see its custom hood, wheels, or badging certifying its complete dominance on the road. The Fireball is also street legal, and would likely kill on the track too.

2. 1969 Camaro Street Machine "Inferno"

Inferno camaro

Calling this 1969 "Inferno" Camaro a mere car would be doing it a disservice as one of the best rides at SEMA 2016. In fact, the work put into this beast makes it flirt with the line between "custom ride" and "work of art."

Flawlessly built by Roadster Shop, the Inferno rides on a Fast Track chassis, a custom set of black-rimmed wheels, and features a hand-painted dash. Below the jaw-dropping yellow McLaren paint is a 660 hp engine we'd love to rev up on the streets.

3. 1969 Camaro G-Code

G Code Camaro

It's kind of a thing for Ringbrothers to make grand entrances wherever they go. The 2016 SEMA show was no different, as they unveiled this 1969 Camaro G-Code that looks just as slick as the parts in it.

Let's start with the engine, shall we? The G-Code packs an LS3 engine that's been increased to 416 cubic inches that generates (approximately) 1000 HP through a Tremec six-speed transmission. But this Camaro is no straight-liner - Ringbrothers installed a full after-market suspension so the G-Code could turn with the best of them.

The exterior, to put it lightly, is exquisite. The hand-laid carbon fiber on the hood below the "blue print" finish gives it the head-turning appeal every restoration project strives for.

4 & 5. Camaro Turbo AutoX and Camaro SS Slammer

We're looping the last two together because they're both concepts revealed by Chevrolet themselves. That makes them related in a way.

Auto X Camaro

The Camaro Turbo AutoX is immediately identified by the shock yellow finish and is fitted with a turbocharged 2.0L inline-4, which keeps the front light for nimbler handling. Its sharp aesthetics are designed for outright speed, and there's no doubt track enthusiasts will be drooling over this one in the coming months.

Slammer camaro

The Camaro SS Slammer is a different beast altogether. To boost its performance, the SS Slammer features a Brembo braking package and a high-flow exhaust said to produce a deep growl. Also included is an adjustable air suspension and the Camaro's stock 6.2L V8. The Slammer is finished with a slick paint dubbed Dazzling Black, which incorporates gloss white flakes for added depth and dimension.
